The Mantras for Rahu

Rahu, the north node, is equated with Saturn the great malefic by Vedic Astrologers. A strong Rahu gives the individual worldly powers and success. In the spiritual realm, Rahu can give psychic powers, but also there may be danger from drugs, and danger from black magic. On the positive side, the influence of Rahu can put us in harmony with collective trends and give popularity, prestige, fame and power.

The power of Mantras & Shlokas has been acknowledged since time immemorial. A Mantra can consist of a powerful word or a combination of words and can be used for self realization, for freedom from worries, to fulfill one's desires, to ward off the effects of malefic planets, to bring you success, peace and contentment -- the range is truly vast. You can choose for yourself.

The following is the special name (nama) mantra for the Rahu as preceded by it's Shakti or power mantra. It can be used to connect with the planetary deity and to energize all the higher powers of the Rahu.

"Om Dhum Ram Rahave Namah"

The word 'Dhum' in above mantra denotes Dhavana Shakti, the power of obscuring, hiding, protecting and preparing.

The following mantras are also considered very good for Rahu. You may opt to recite one of the following mantra if you find it comparatively easy to remember.

"Om bhraam bhreem bhraum sah rahave namah"
"Om raam rahve namah"

The mantras are chanted on japa beads of 108 beads per string. They are similar to rosaries.

The Rahu's mantra may be recited for 18,000 times within 40 days during night and puja performed with blue flowers and sandal wood. begin recitation on a Saturday during the bright half of the Moon.

presence of 'Kali and Durga yantra' at the place of recitation may help you in achieving the desired results faster.

Gayatri Mantra for Rahu:
"Om Sookdantaya vidmahe, Ugraroopaya dhimahi, tanno Rahu prachodayat"

This Gayatri mantra consists of three parts. The first is the chants to the Rahu. The second is the mantra proper. The third is a summary of the mantra's energies.

The Gayatri mantra is chanted at sunrise, noon and sunset. At dawn it is called Gayatri, the youthful form of the Goddess, consort of Lord brahma, the creator. It is called Savitri, the mature form, at noon, the consort of Lord Shiva. It is called Sarasvati, the elderly form, at sunset, the consort of Lord Vishnu.

You may also opt to chant following puranic mantra for propiating the Rahu (18,000 times).

Ardha-kayam mahim-viryam chandraditya-vimardanam
simhika-garbha-sambhutam tam rahum pranamamy aham
When translated in English, it means:

I offer my obeisances to Rahu, born from the womb of Simhika, who has only half a body yet possesses great power, being able to subdue the Sun and the Moon."

Mantras must be chanted or recited with unwavering devotion and motivation. Chanting them as a matter-of-course deprives them of power and is practically useless from the point of view of conscious growth, evolution and effect.
